2011: My Year in Retrospect (My Longest Post EVER)

It was only last night that I’ve decided to make a year-end post. I guess this is a must so that everyone would have a recap of what I’ve done throughout the whole year, the people who I was with and I became friends with, and the memories that I would never forget. So enjoy this post. I’m beginning this “retrospect” post from the day I got my new baby, “Chance”, my Nikon d300s. :D

April 2: This was the day that my mom bought my camera for me. I’m happy that I finally got a new baby and I’m still using my 50mm f/1.8 during the shot above. The shot above btw was the very first shot of my camera. Yes, indeed it was the beginning of a new chapter. Since I got my Nikon d300s, a lot of things have changed for the better and I’ve found out what are my capabilities as a photographer…videographer.

April 3: It was the birthday of my classmate Darel and we celebrated it at the Mall of Asia. I named the photo above as “The Filmmaker (sort of) was born” because it was the day that I discovered my passion in not just taking photos but videos. And yes, this day was the beginning of my passion in filmmaking and hopefully, I became a well-known filmmakers. It was a fun-filled day and I made the video by accident. I’m glad that “the accident” happened. :)

April 6: It was the day that I got to shoot my second video and still in the process of learning. Thanks to my friend Addison who accepted my request to feature him. I’m glad to have friends like him to help me get closer to what I’m destined to become.

April 9: This was the day of my 2nd organized photowalk. The first one was in October 2010. This day started with a rain but eventually the weather became good. Wohoho. Thanks to the people who I was with that day. Kaypee, Cedie, Pabee, Niki, Shibs at Karl. It was a tiring day wherein we walked for more than 6km. Haha. It was fun though thanks to them.

April 11: This was the celebration of the birthdays of my classmates. My friends who are April celebrants, celebrated their birthday simultaneously at the La Mesa Eco Park. As usual, it was a fun fun day because I got to bond with my closest friends in class and they are always there whenever I need them. It’s a privilege to be with my Planetang Puso friends because they give more than what I give everytime and hopefully by 2012, I could give them more time.

April 14: Hmmm. I must say that this day was so much fun because I got to bond with my anaks and apo here on tumblr. Thank you so much to Nak Cedie, Nak Bry, and apo Ry for being the stars of my stop-motion video. This video is one of my favorites because it took me a lot of effort to shoot and edit but nevertheless, I never regreted to use more than 1000 shutter actuation for this video.

April 15: It was supposed to be the day that I would shoot Cedie and Pau for a promotional product of the Tumblr Shirt that they are selling. Too bad that the short arrived late and I went home a few minutes earlier. But, I got the chance to make another video entitled “Jane Doe” and it was nice meeting Pau and her friend. They are pretty and nice at the same time.

April 16: Aliwan Festival 2011 was a really fun shooting day and I that was the first time I met my Helios buds. I miss them actually, well it’s a long story. Haha. All I can say about this day was it was a memorable one because it was my first Aliwan and I got to shoot a lot of festivals all over the Philippines in just one location. It was a very tiring day. I also met here my good friend Rudstin who now specializes in food photography. I was with a good company that night wherein we ate at Kalye Juan. I was with Dhel, Pabee, Rudstin, and Rennell.

April 24: The unforgettable ATC Meet-up wherein I choked on a chewing gum and thanks to the resident nurse, Pabee. It was a really fun day and I really intended to go here since it was the anniversary of the first ATC Meet-up which was my very first tumblr meet-up. It was fun to be with my friends again. Thanks Dhel, Pabee, Cheska, Rudstin, Cedric, Wilson, and to all new found friends.

April 25: We Dance for a Cause. Yes, we dance for a cause for the Ferdinand Center for the Creative foundation to help kids study in school. It was a fun day and we did not expect to do a routine because we thought that we will just be shot by them. It turned out to be fun and met 2 new friends, Fides and Karen. Thanks again to my buds nak Cedie, nak Bry, and apo Ry.

April 26: A time of remembering my departed loved one, my lolo. This day we celebrated the first death anniversary of my lolo. Since our family is just small, we celebrated it very simple but very meaningful with my Tito Arnel. Another thing shown in the collage below would be AJ Perez’s burial. It was so timely that the day AJ Perez’s body will be burried was also the day we went at the Manila Memorial Park for my grandpa. God bless the both of them and to all of your departed loved ones.

May 1: Flores de Mayo sa MOA. This was the first EB with Helios as an official Helios member. It was fun to be with a lot of photographer and I got to learn a lot about photography. This was also my first time in shooting Flores de Mayo sa MOA which is an annual event and hopefully I could come back next year. Saw some celebrities in the parade which made the shooting part more exciting.

May 7: The PakyePamilya Anniversary. All I can say about this day: AWESOMEEE!! ILoveYouL Guys! :D

May 8: Metro Comic Con at the Mega Trade Hall B in Megamall. Weee. I really went here to shoot the cosplayers even though I have little background about Manga and stuff, good thing I was with Rudstin who knew a lot about this and Dhel as always.

May 11: Weeee. I can say that this day was a day of first. It was the first time I met Shin who is a totally awesome person. It was also the first time I got to shoot a time lapse in Roxas Boulevard. First Time to use the internet booth on mini stop. Haha. It was a fun day. Thanks to Shin who accepted my request, to apo Ry, and nak Law.

May 18: DropDeadBarbie shoot featuring Jam. This would be the second time that I shot Jam. It was a very tiring day because we walked a lot and shot photos and videos at the same time. Again, it was an awesome awesome day and ended at Roxas Boulevard again.

May 23: I can still remember this day because I can say that this was the shoot that I enjoyed the most and the best video concept, I guess, that I did. Haha. Thanks to Vanz who made this dance/travel video a very successful one. Thanks to Dhel, Cheska, Grace, Ryan, Akken, and, of course, Vanz.

May 29: Bawal Mag Shoot Dito sa Makati. Yes. It was only that day that I found out that we cannot shoot at the Business Distric in Makati. I’m glad that I managed to shoot some scenes without the knowledge of the security. Haha. Thanks to my very first model and a very good friend, Henzel, for once again accepting my invitation. Thanks also to Ronald, Nak Law, and Dhel for joining me in the shoot.

June 2: Fun at Bataan with my AJ Peeps. This would be our 3-day team building at Morong, Bataan! It was so much fun to be with these peeps and I enjoyed their company. It was an unforgettable experience.

June 6: My very first Handicap Photowalk with Helios wherein we have to use pure manual from the settings to the focus. It was an exciting activity and I enjoyed it pretty much and met new friends.

June 20: The Bagyo-Walk. It was a memorable one since it was a rainy walk and a combined photowalk of tumblr and Helios. It’s about time my 2 set of friends have met face to face.

June 24: A VERY UNFORGETTABLE DAY. Haha. This was the day Manila was hit by a storm and then UST was flooded. It was my first time to sleep over at UST due to a flood. Yeah, it was scary because of the weather but because of my friends who I was with the whole night, they made this event a very enjoyable one.

June 26: First Anniversary is the title of my very first short film starring Ronald and Henzel. Thanks to these two awesome person because they made the film very good. And also to my team: Dhel, Ryan, Pabee, and Bhing who also starred for the short film contest that joined in.

August 5: The much-awaited Thomasian Walk. It has been delayed for a lot of weeks due to bad weather. Finally, it was a very successful event and I enjoyed it so much even though it rained towards the end of the program. It was an awesome event.

September 8: A mini-reunion with PakyePamilya at Almer’s. I miss them. I miss you guys!! ~____~

September 11: My 3rd Organized Photowalk entitled “Tawid” with my AJ Peeps. It was fun to teach and lead these guys for their first ever photowalk. I love AJ!

October 22: It’s the time we commemorated our departed loved ones at the Chinese Cemetery in La Loma. Even though we were only few who went, we still managed to celebrate this day as a very meaningful one.

October 22: The Tree Planting Meet-Up. All I can say that it feels pretty good to actually know that you are helping our Mother Nature. It’s one of the best meet-ups that I’m part of and I’m proud of it. Thanks to Niki for organizing this one and watch out for the next TPMU this 2012.

October 25: Wohoho. I’m glad to have met Kristine who is an amazing model. Shoot ulit next year Tine! Haha. Thanks to Chi, Innah, and Kevin who was with me during the shoot.

October 25: Yes, the same day of the shoot of Tine. It was a bit tiring but when I arrived at Subspace Coffee, I’m amazed to have met a wonderful set of people. I’m glad that Punch Drunk Panda trusted me to be part of their team. I really love you guys and you made my 2011 a very special one.

October 29: Philippine Fashion Week. Thanks to DJ for giving me and Ryan the passes to enter the show. It was my first PFW and I felt overwhelmed by the people who went. It was fun still. haha. Thanks also to apo Kaloy who was with us too.

November 5: Jaywalking, my best organized photowalk. haha. A lot of atendees and even though it rained a lot during that day, you can really see that all of them are very determined to shoot and learn. One of the best days of the year 2011.

November 6: Global Pinoy Bazaar. It was my first time again to go to GBP and I’m glad that they started this so that pinoy products would be showcased more. Thanks to Grace and Dhel who came with me.

November 13: CIIT Experience and it was awesome learning from a great teacher. Thanks again Dhel, Rochelle, and Glenn for joining me in this wonderful experience.

December 11: The beginning of our 3-day retreat at Angels’ Hills in Tagaytay. It was the best bonding time I had with my classmates. I love you guys! :D

December 16: Paskuhan 2011!! My first full Paskuhan! Haha. And the Best one. It was the first time that I haven’t slept for more than 24 hours. What an experience! Thanks to my friends!! :D

December 20: My advance birthday celebration with my High-school friends at a Hotel in Manila. Yeah, totally miss my peeps from high-school. They are still the “best-est” among the best. haha.

December 24: The MMFF Parade of the Stars. I’ve been going to this event before, as in like an annual event for me and my mom. haha. This was the first time that I shoot the stars though. It was fun, exciting, and scary at the same time. haha

December 27: I’M. Explorer. The lat event that I took part in for the year 2011 and it definitely was one of the best moments of 2011. Thanks new found friends. Will definitely volunteer for you guys again!
